What to bring for class

Orientation

  • Yourself (no dogs please!).
  • Questions to ask at the end of the orientation.
  • If already signed up for class, your dog's current vaccinations so you will be ready to go for class start!

VIRTUAL Training and Webinars

Technology Requirements

  • Internet access.
  • Recording devices with quality mic/camera (IE laptop, desktop, smartphone, tablet, etc)
  • If using handheld device, like a smartphone, make sure it is fully charged.
  • A quiet room or area to allow video and audio with minimal disruption.  This area should allow an 8x8 area for you to move around with your dog and still be in the visual frame for your instructor.
  • Download Zoom (you do not need an account, just the app and it's free), here is a link for further assistance. If using your phone, iPad, etc. you can download from your app store for free.
  • Meeting via Zoom.  A Zoom link is sent in your confirmation email.
  • Once you receive your confirmation email please test the Zoom link two days before scheduled meeting. This will allow you to ensure the WiFi, Zoom link, technology, and lighting in the room are ready to go!

Free Puppy Playgroup

  • Proof of your puppies current vaccinations. Please email before you arrive!
  • Rabies vaccinations (if over four months old).
  • Portable water bowl (water is available).
  • Proper fitting flat buckle collar or harness.
  • 6 foot leash (no retractable leashes please!).
  • One adult per puppy.
  • If children are in attendance, two adults (one for puppy and one for the children).
  • Reading the rules of Puppy Playgroup.  Email Ashley with any questions.

Group Classes

  • You and your dog!
  • Proof of your dog's current vaccinations. Email before your first class. Your veterinarian can email them as well!
  • Paper proof of rabies vaccinations.
  • Portable water bowl (water is provided).
  • Proper fitting flat buckle or martingale collar.  Harnesses are also fine, especially Freedom Harnesses.
  • 6 foot leash (no retractable leashes please!).
  • Really tasty treats.  Soft and smelly typically work the best!
  • If children are in attendance, two adults are mandatory (one for the dog and one for the children).
  • Optional: Kong stuffed food (helps keep the dog's attention towards their person when the trainer is talking).

Focused Fun Classes

Nose Work

  • You and your dog!
  • Proof of your dog's current vaccinations.  Email before class one. Your veterinarian can email them as well!
  • Paper proof of rabies vaccinations.
  • Portable water bowl (water is provided).
  • Proper fitting flat buckle or martingale collar.  Tracking harnesses are encouraged.
  • 6 foot leash (no retractable leashes please!).
  • Really tasty treats.  Soft and smelly typically work the best!
  • If children are in attendance, two adults are mandatory (one for the dog and one for the children).

Following are the specific Nose Work supplies required before class one (you can purchase or make your own):

  • Birch odor
  • Small glass jars (sterilized jam jars work well!)
  • Metal tins with holes
  • Q tips
  • Tweezers
  • Museum Putty and/or rare earth magnets
  • You can buy the above or purchase kits at various online sites. Make sure to order extra tins and magnets, this starter kit only comes with one.
